We are here to offer you assistance with your medical necessities, to offer encouragement with life’s challenges, to applaud your desire to maintain your independence, and to be a friend when you need comfort.
Being a smaller sized community of only thirty units, we can assure that you will have frequent contact with the staff and your personal care assistants, and regular social interactions with your neighbors and friends here. It also allows us to be especially sensitive to your needs, and to be keenly aware of any changes in your health.
For residents with limited mobility or memory shortcomings, our size community allows for variety and stimulation without being overwhelming or too large to handle emotionally.
Our own community
Everything you could need or want is right inside our doors. Three home cooked meals per day are served in our dining room at Tino’s Trattoria. Snacks, personal products, postage and seasonal gift items are available in Nellie’s General Store. Salon services are available at Connie’s Cuts & Curls. Every activity that you could want – from cookouts to concerts to cribbage – is right here. Religious services are celebrated here regularly.
Private Units For All
All of our 30 units are single occupancy with private baths. Enjoy the same privacy that you have in your own home, while having the peace of mind to know that assistance is available when you need it, 24 hours each day. You will still maintain your own private telephone number for personal calls, as well as have a direct line to the on-duty staff 24 hours each day.
You will bring in your own furnishings, curtains and decorations, so you can put that special touch to the unit that makes it your home.
You will have expanded cable television offerings as part of your unit package, as well as the ability to contract with Comcast for optional cable television station offerings. Free wireless internet is available throughout the residence.
Affordability & Financial Assistance
Where you can have it all! Where you can afford it all! Our rates are the most affordable in the region. We can help you stretch out your life’s savings while receiving the best personal care and quality living environment around. Being a local, non-profit organization, we work diligently to provide you with the best quality at the best rates…rates that are all inclusive so you know up front what you will be paying each month.
In addition to having the lowest rates around, there may be some subsidy programs for which you are eligible, no matter in what state you currently reside. Medicaid coverage for personal care services may be available for you if you meet clinical and financial guidelines. (We participate in Massachusetts programs called Group Adult Foster Care through MassHealth and Senior Care Options through Commonwealth Care Alliance.
If you meet certain financial guidelines established by the Social Security Administration, you may be eligible for SSI-G , which is a supplemental Social Security program that could increase your monthly Social Security income to help you afford the monthly room and board payments at our residence.
There is also a very popular program for wartime veterans and their spouses called Veterans’ Aid and Attendance Pension, administered by the Veteran's Administration. The Aid and Attendance (A&A) Pension provides financial assistance for those who require the regular assistance from health care workers with activities of daily living as provided for in our assisted living residence.
If your income and assets exceed the maximum allowed for assistance programs, a private pay rate is also available that can be as much as 50% less than other assisted living residences.
You will have an individualized care plan established, with input from our resident services program nurse and social worker, your primary care physician, supportive family members, and most importantly – yourself. Together, you will develop a care plan that’s designed just for you to assure that you get the care and attention that you need – when you need it.
Our trained staff will assist you with a program of Self Administered Medication Management (SAMM) , where we will remind you each time you need to take your medication. We will check all information to make sure that you are taking the correct medication at the correct time at the correct dose. Regular inventories of your medication will be performed, and documentation of your participation in the program will be recorded each time a medication dosage is due.
Pharmacy Delivery and Supply Program
Through a program coordinated between your primary care physician, your other doctors and the pharmacy, your prescriptions would be delivered to you in “bubble pack” cassettes. (a monthly card in which the pills are placed into bubbles that are punched out for each dose). This type of packaging, in conjunction with the SAMM program, saves you or your family from having to run to the pharmacy each time your prescriptions change or need refills, to sort through a cabinet full of pill bottles each time you need to take a medication and - most importantly - it provides a visual record of whether or not a your medication has been taken ("Did I take my high blood pressure pill this morning?"). Packaging also helps separate drugs that should not be taken together, and insures medications are taken at a consistent time each day (this is especially important for blood thinning medications).
Special Services Coordination
Specialized on-site services such as visiting nursing care, podiatrist, geriatric psychological counseling, or physical and occupational therapy will be coordinated between our resident services program nurse, social worker and your primary care physician.
Off site adult day health programs may also be arranged for our residents that meet the guidelines for participation.
Housekeeping and Laundry Services
We are here to assist you with the housekeeping tasks that you can no longer safely accomplish independently. We will launder your clothes, towels and bed sheets weekly.
A staff member is in the residence around the clock. They will be available to you for your personal care needs – at the push of a speed-dial button on your telephone. Additionally, all of our residents enroll with a personal emergency response system (PERS) provider.
Our meals are the talk of the town! Our residents enjoy the most varied, home style meals of any assisted living residence around, and they often remark how they eat better here than they did when they had to cook for themselves...and whenever their families and friends join them for regular and holiday meals—or our “gourmet meal specials”, they agree. In our casual dining room located next to the kitchen, our residents enjoy all of the wonderful sounds and aromas of home cooking—in an intimate environment with personalized meal service.
Our activities programming is a blend of cultural, social, musical events – and just plain fun. We celebrate every holiday imaginable – from the traditional to the obscure. If there is music, we are singing it; if there is a game, we are playing it; if there is a good movie, we are watching it. Otherwise, we are cooking, planting, discussing, exercising or heading off to the Elementary School for an intergenerational activity. Our Therapy Dog program is a favorite, as it rekindles memories of family pets and that non-judgmental love that only pets provide.
Guido's Piano Bar and Cabaret Lounge
The newst addition to our activities lineup is our "Guido's Pinao Bar and Cabaret". We have some of New England's best piano bar pianists/entertainers lead us in song, laughs, and merriment, while we sit at the piano and enjoy our afternoon cocktail. Families and friends have made this a regular activity as well.
Exercise & Geriatric Fitness Programs
There are multiple and various opportunities to stay active. Through a coordinated program between our resident services program nurse, your primary care physician, and our geriatric fitness counselor, you can participate in a personalized strength and flexibility program in our Fitness Zone. Or if more lighthearted - yet therapeutic group exercise appeals to you, join our Armchair Exercise Group. We offer other opportunities also through our Springtime Walking Club or our Wii Bowling League.
